Yanik Silver’s Underground Online Seminar Presentation

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Yanik Silver is one of the guy’s I have genuine respect for in the internet marketing arena.  He’s a straight shooter who genuinely cares for his customers, and while I turn down many invitations to speak, it was my pleasure to be a featured speaker at his Underground Online Seminar this year in Washington DC.  I spoke about how eBay can be used in unconventional, renegade ways to generate leads for almost any type of business, and I gave lots of examples and proof how the strategy works.  This was the first time I’ve revealed many of the strategies that are in my H3 system.  It was also a great opportunity for me to meet many subscribers of my ‘Renegade eBay Auction Seller’ newsletter, which has rapidly become the most trusted source of advice for unconventional eBay strategies. If you’re not familiar with it, you can check out our very generous introductory offer at: www.sendmyfreegift.com. I want you to benefit from directly selling on eBay, or using it as a lead generation system, and the newsletter keeps you up to date on the very latest techniques I’ve developed, so I encourage you to check out that resource.Andrew Lock, the renegade eBay Auction Seller at Yanik Silver's Underground Seminar

A New FREE Feature to Delight eBay Store Owners

Monday, March 19th, 2007

No one needs to be educated about the fact that conventional shops have sales from time to time, and sales are very appealing to customers.

eBay has now implemented the facility for eBay store owners to have a sale!
Any store or fixed price items can now go on sale for the period of your choice, and it’s a very easy process thanks to eBay’s ‘Markdown Manager'’.

You can now create seasonal sales, sales for specific categories, or perhaps just to clear out excess inventory.

I really like the way eBay indicates sale items.  They put a line through the regular price, indicate the sale price in a bold font, and even show the percentage discount you specified for that item, so the buyer can see at a glance how much they’ll be saving.
Listings can be discounted either by a percentage amount or by a specific monetary amount. As an example, a listing that is selling for $20 might be discounted by 40% or, alternatively $8. It’s your choice.

The sale price of the listing appears as a ‘Buy It Now’ anywhere on the site that your listings would normally appear.

This is an excellent innovation, and the fact that it’s free makes it even more commendable.  management at eBay deserve a nice pat on the back for this one…

eBay Ad Format Eludes Sellers

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Well, what a week it’s been for the Ad format, now known as the classified ad format, a subtle but important change. It seems like the format has eluded many eBay sellers, judging by all the email I’ve received from you guys. Here’s the deal. eBay’s current strategy with this format, for whatever reason, is to hide it from you. There are two options to choose from. Firstly, if you list directly on eBay, you start a listing as usual, BUT when you come to choose the category you must select a category that is allowable for the classified ad format. Right now, that includes:

Websites and Businesses for sale
Trade Show Booths
Prefabricated Buildings (?!!)
Travel
Specialty Services
Everything Else

Note that these are subjec to change at any time, so be aware of that. The categories were reduced this week, and they could be reduced again as eBay continues to play around with this format.

Once you’ve selected an allowable category, you’ll be able to select classified ad format further through the listing process.

The second option is to use TurboLister, a free download from eBay. It’s a piece of software that you load on your computer locally to prepare your listings, and then you upload them when you’re ready. Thankfully, currently TurboLister has a drop down box that allows you to select ‘classified ad’ format directly. Of course, the category still needs to be allowable, but it’s a much easier way to list in my opinion, so check it out.

This is an interesting development from eBay. Who knows what’s going on inside their minds?
For now, at least we have the classified ad format, and I hope they keep it around for a very long time.
